HelloMy name is Scott Bolinger.I'm a boxing and kick boxing coach out of Alliance Nebraska, with over 24 years coaching experience. I am also author of a kick-boxing book and working on my 2nd and 3rd book.I would like to try and attend a seminar some day and get certified as a pro-official if someday that a seminar would be closer to my area. The closest seminars are in St. Louis, which is over 800 miles. I'm in Alliance Nebraska. But it would be nice that if they do , so a seminar that it covered both amateur and pro boxing, so we wouldn't have to take two separate classes.I was also wondering, In Nebraska, we have the State Athletics Commission. So do we actually have to pay both the Athletics commission and Usa Boxing fees to be able to do a sanctioned amateur boxing event. It gets pretty expensive having to pay off two different commissions. Things were picking up in Western Nebraska, but the cost of running events is out of allot of peoples means, so most are competing in South Dakota and Wyoming. A lot of kids are just doing smokers and not doing any qualifying events. But, i'd like to fix this big expense problem, or try and figure out how to fix this big expense problem.I've emailed the Nebraska Athletics Commission several times on this issue and I have never received a response. I've also messaged the governor since he elects the athletics commission. All he did was give answers that basically ran around the subject, so as not to actually do anything to fix the problem.
Scott, at present I have tentatively scheduled a mma Seminar in KansasCity with John McCarthy. I am shoring up the dates and should have themfinalized soon. I do not have a date for boxing training at this point.TimTim LueckenhoffAdministratorMissouri Office of AthleticsPresident, Association of Boxing Commissions573 751 0243 Office573 751 5649 Fax

well, I'd actually like to be able to do both Seminars.
I regularly teach officials seminars for my kick boxing style. But, I also brush up on a few different styles of martial arts as well as boxing rules and regulations with my students.
I would actually like to see more a mix seminar to obtain a license for multiple arts. As well as amateur and pro events. It gets a bit expensive nickel and dime every little thing. With Nebraska having a athletics commission and the commission not really putting anything into the sport, it just seems like there more into taking peoples money rather than preserving the sport.
I think if we are to preserve the sport, we do pro-am seminars, primarily pin pointing the arts that are sanctioned in those states. Charge a $25 or what ever amount for the license, or if your going to get a insurance program, do the same as what usaboxing, UUA or does with there individual insurance program. Instead of the commission raping the events all the time, just do a general fee for a license. Then that should cover travel expense for the commissioner to run training seminars throughout the state.
In my area, a lot of people can't afford the travel to get licensed. So they just compete in non-sanctioned events in SD or Wyoming. But, if you get a students that wants to make a career out of the sport, a lot of times it's tough getting them to the appropriate event.
For me to travel to Kansas City, would probably run me about a grand and then i'm still not getting all the officials training i'd want.
