MMA isnt’ destroying the art. A lot of people get the impression that all MMA practitioners are like what is seen in the UFC Reality TV show. You have to remember that, thats a show and they’ll do what they can to peek peoples interest.
I instruct MMA and have attended several MMA matches as a judge and cornerman and for the most part there is a discipline and you learn more about self defense when your not bound by the traditional teachings of just one style or one art. I’ve studied 6 different styles of martial arts in over a 25 year span and even wrote a couple book on the arts. That actual athletes of MMA do show a great amount of respect towards each fighter.
When you see on the UFC reality show were one team is drawing on the walls or marking up or hiding the other teams cloths or urinating in there food. That’s something that looks bad for any art or any sport. And you see a lot of that type of disrespect in many sports. But when they do a series on British vs USA and USA is doing all these practical jokes. These guys got to remember, there representing USA and it’s time to be professional and knock off the punk stuff.
